Property deeds are about as worthless as the paper they're printed on. You don't need the originals for anything. County recorders and title companies both have copies anyway.

Those are some good tips on replacing your identity documents. I dont think some people realize hom much of a pain in the ass it is to secure identity documents for yourself these days.
And don't lose the keys to your safe if you do.
Yeah, we lost 'em. Fortunately, I saved the instructions, which had the key type and the company's website on the back, so I was able to order replacements.
But for a little while, we thought we'd have to call a locksmith if we ever wanted to see our SS cards and marriage license again...
I remember way back in the day, it was illegal to laminate SS cards... is this still the case?
Kalik: Yep, it's illegal because it messes up some of the security features.
Or, if you're cheap like me, put your birth certificate, passport and social security card in a plastic bag in the freezer. Freezer beats fire!
