For American Airlines you can file a claim for a little over $2,500 for the stuff in the bag(must provide reciepts). I'm sure JetBlue has something similar. So make sure you claim everything in your bag if they never find it.
Be VERY nice to the Baggage Room folks when you call, despite the magnitude of the screwup, and they will bend over backwards to help you. A little laughable flirting can go a LONG way here...
