FBI: Kmart Worker Poisoned Meat
Karen L. Wyndham, 45, does not want to work outside the dairy department at the Kmart where she works. That is where she wants to be. If you try to move her, she'll retaliate by putting rat poison in the ground beef. From WCBD:
Wednesday, A FBI detective took the stand and said Wyndham admitted to putting rat poison into three packages of meat at the North Charleston Super K-mart, where she works in the dairy department. He also said she confessed to doing it as revenge after her supervisor asked her to do work in another section of the store.We question the thought process that resulted in this course of action. —MEGHANN MARCO
In court, Wyndham's attorney questioned the validity of her confession, saying it came at the tail end of a three hour interrogation. Further, he claimed at least 16 employees had access to the meat and to the dairy cooler, where investigators found rat pellets. Wyndham's attorney argued many employees are disgruntled due to restructuring and would have motive to contaminate products.
The judge ultimately said none of the others had a signed confession and ruled in the prosecution's favor.
Earlier this week, a judge released Wyndham on bond. She currently is under house arrest.

Wow. I missed this one on the news. Used to live near that K-mart and would not even think about buying anything from the grocery section of the store. Walked through the meat and produce section and it had the "nothing good can come out of buying here" feeling to it.
I thought KMart was over with? Anyhows this psycho lady should not be working anywhere near food. Heck I wond even buy from the same stores she does. Glad I am thousands of miles away from North Charleston.
Consumerist is once again bravely taking an anti-poisoning position. They will not cave to the lobbyists for Big Poison.

While I will shop at K-Mart to avoid stepping foot in a Wal-Mart, I refuse to buy meat, fruit or vegetables at any "one stop shopping" store.
It's the defense attorneys for these people who really make me angry.
Wow... so just because they didn't interrogate and possibly falsly produce a confession from any of the other workers, they're gonna prosecute her?
I haven't seen any K-Marts for ages. Didn't the company go bankrupt?
@Mr. Gunn: it may not be a good day to say it, but it's appropriate. i think people in general have had enough of our financially based moral system and society. the one's that are, shall we say slightly unbalanced, will come out shooting, while the rest of us post a few words on sites like the consumerist.
