    hey dont knock it, some of those non-name brand machines work surprisingly well for much less. The Coby DVD players are full feature, have more fucking connections that you can shake a stick at (and more than the 300 dollar DVD player I bought for my parents 6 months before did) and last just as long.

    I think the Pye DVD recorder is the one I bought and returned about a month ago. The price was good, but the manual was seriously eye-glazing. There were far too many different ways to record (finalize the disc? record in editable mode, which can’t be played in a DVD player, except when it can? which modes are supported on DVD+R vs. -R?), which would have been fine if I could’ve just ignored them and used some sensible default—but there didn’t seem to be any such default. Nor was there a “this is how to do the simple stuff” section of the manual.

    Fortunately, I had some time to kill before I got home, so I took the time to read the manual before I tried hooking it up. I returned it immediately.
