See How Your Hospital Compares
The Freakonomics blog points us to a new service being offered by the Department of Health and Human Services called Hospital Compare.
From the Hospital Compare site:
This tool provides you with information on how well the hospitals in your area care for all their adult patients with certain medical conditions. This information will help you compare the quality of care hospitals provide. Hospital Compare was created through the efforts of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and organizations that represent hospitals, doctors, employers, accrediting organizations, other Federal agencies and the public.
The hospital we were born in does an excellent job of providing heart patients with smoking cessation counseling. Well, who knew? —MEGHANN MARCO

What would be more useful to me is a website with "customer reviews" of hospitals. Too bad the existing ones are locked away with membership plans -- curtailing access doesn't make them useful. Since I have freedom to pick & choose my health care I am hoping an epinions type site will prevail in the end.
I'm in the same boat as homerjay. I've been trying it on and off all day, and no dice.
I'd really like to see the info, too, since I'm due to have a baby soon.
Am I the only one getting this when trying to use the tool:
