Confessions of a Porn Store Clerk
Ah, the seedy side of consumer life. The porn store. OC Weekly has an interview with a porn store clerk about his daily life:
- I knew somebody who did layout for a porn magazine, and he got really burned out looking at naked people all day. It started to affect his sex life. Has anything like that happened to you?
Well, I'm not in a relationship right now, so it hasn't affected my relationships yet. But you do get burned out, sure. Looking at naked people and hearing moaning all the time, you can definitely get kind of tired of it.

Ya really, I didnt even want to look at ice cream after working for Dairy Queen for 4 months. My girlfriend didnt even want to see pasta for a year after working at the Mac Shack for 5 years, and we still have not gone to eat at one since she left almost 4 years ago to work in a school system.
See something day in day out and you get burned out. I work IT now and I refuse to work on side stuff for anyone but extremely close friends/ family simply because I refuse to let my free time feel like my work time.
I gotta give a shout out to the never-equaled original and best example of this genre, which has since gone on to be a one-woman show and an episode of "This American Life.":

(This might seem like bald self-promotion, but it's not. Sadly, I'm not the author (God, I wish), although I know the writer as a fellow Chicago improviser-made-good.)
I'll throw another endorsement out to Ali Davis and True Porn Clerk Stories. Best blog I've ever read.

That wasn't a confession. That was some retailer describing retail. How uninteristing.
