Ya really, I didnt even want to look at ice cream after working for Dairy Queen for 4 months. My girlfriend didnt even want to see pasta for a year after working at the Mac Shack for 5 years, and we still have not gone to eat at one since she left almost 4 years ago to work in a school system.

See something day in day out and you get burned out. I work IT now and I refuse to work on side stuff for anyone but extremely close friends/ family simply because I refuse to let my free time feel like my work time.

I gotta give a shout out to the never-equaled original and best example of this genre, which has since gone on to be a one-woman show and an episode of "This American Life.":

Same thing happened to me working in a regular video store - I just got so burned out on movies I hardly watched any for years after.

On the other hand, after I stopped waiting tables at an upscale Italian restaurant, I couldn't wait to go back in and get some food. It was good food.

I was once offered a job editing porn. During the interview, the guy told me, "you'll get sick of watching it pretty quickly." I didn't take the job.

It's even easy to get burned out on things that someone close to you works on. When I was in high school, my brother worked at a Sonic and came home every night smelling like french fries. I couldn't go into a fast food place for several years after.
