Today Is Milton Friedman Day

Oh jeez, we almost forgot, today is Milton Friedman day.

The Economist hosted a day of web-discussion and there was a national PBS broadcast of The Power of Choice: The Life and Ideas of Milton Friedman.

If you missed that, you can check out the wealth of Friedman videos on YouTube, from which we’ve selected a few:

Ha, just eeked that one in under the wire.

    It’s Friedman.

I’m almost ashamed to admit it but I’m fascinated by Friedman. I wouldn’t say a fan, exactly, but I think his ideas at least have the merit of being consistent. Keep government’s bony hand out of our lives as much as possible.

I think a cool PBS documentary that is not precisely about Friedman, but about how the West ultimately chose his ideas, is “Commanding Heights: The Battle For The World Economy.” If anyone out there is looking to belatedly observe Friedman Day…well…you’ve probably already seen it. But if you haven’t, it’s worth watching. Just keep your salt nearby, for you will need a few grains.

    I second “Commanding Heights.”
