Reader something_amazing was having less than amazing luck reaching Best Buy. He wanted to know what Roombas they had in stock. When he called, he would wait on hold for five minutes, only to be disconnected. He could actually hear the phone being picked up and then hung up. He had success after we told him to dial extension 2180.

The next week, he called back trying to find if they had a certain game in stock. Calling the video game department, he was hung up on again in the same manner. He finally reached a human, found out about his game, and then let the guy know his displeasure with being hung up on all the time.

What the Best Buy employee said next will shock and amaze you… watch the video.

benpopken: When you’re straight up with a store and say hey such and such in a very candid way, sometimes that makes them be more candid and human back.
something_amazingYeah when you drop the bullshit and you just confront people in a normal tone they’re usually willing to be up front with you. It always works for me, whether it be credit card people, or collections agencies, or anything, they’re all human and sometimes it’s just as easy as making a connection.
