Designer Of Walmart's Nazi Shirt Found. He's Jewish.
The Miami Herald found the designer of Walmart's Nazi tshirts, a man of Jewish persuasion.
- "Skull emblems are huge sellers these days, so Scott Deutsch had no problem placing 50,000 T-shirts emblazoned with a distinctive version of the gory symbol in Wal-Mart...
''We would never have done that shirt if we had known,'' said Deutsch, president of Miami-based Orange Clothing Company, a manufacturer of young men's apparel. ``Furthermore, I'm Jewish.'"
The article goes on to say that Deutch's company, Orange Clothing Co, found the skull in a "European trend book."
Just when you thought the story couldn't get any stranger, or longer, whammo.
The only question is, what to do with the returned shirts cramming Deutch's warehouses? Perhaps they can insulate his room, in hell. The hell for hack designers. — BEN POPKEN

Here's what the ADL has to say about the symbol:

The two do look a little different, but largely the same...
Shep Fairey surely would like a couple of words with Mr. Deutsch regarding the almost-wholesale rip-off of his design, regardless of totenkopf inspiration...
First, a disclaimer: The nazis were despicable monsters whose tour de force was murdering millions of people, especially children. I do not defend them in any way.
Okay, as to the skull shirts. More ridiculous political correctness. Or, should we just call a spade a spade; more censorship. It's crap. Gee, a skull. Maybe we should make Disney close the Pirates of the Carribean thing; oooh, skulls! Take a look at any goon on a Harley-Davidson. For sure there'll be a skull there somewhere.
What is with this? Do you know you can get any kind of sex-toy imaginable on eBay (hurray!) but that they refuse to run ads for Nazi memorabilia? CENSORSHIP! POLITICAL CORRECTNESS!
Bah, HUMBUG!
(another disclaimer: I do not collect, nor own, any Nazi memorabilia. But, hey! WWII happened, and a lot of people collect and study any number of things about it. So what?
In regards to Hossofcourse's comment, he credits the Consumerist in a later blog post, and not for origination of the story but rather for some ancillary help.
I have not followed the story too closely, but a quick search shows that The Consumerist did not originate the story, and it was in fact Rick Rottman.
This quick fact check brought to you by idle time.

Wow, he's really taking that whole Jewish self-loathing thing to a new level.
