Wendy's Lies About Trans Fats
Despite the fact that Wendy's announced the removal of nearly all trans fats from their French-fry cooking oil, Consumer Reports tested the fries and found that Wendy's is a big fat liar.
"We were surprised to find that the lab tests showed the fries contained significantly more trans fat than the 0.5 grams per serving claimed by Wendy's.... The average amount of trans fat per serving was 2.5 grams."The good news is that Wendy's fries used to have 7 grams of trans fat per serving. Still, the people at Wendy's are lying about the health risks involved in eating their food, and since their fries are delicious, that makes them evil.

I have to admit, when I heard the story I wondered if CR tested a rouge store, someplace that either hadn't yet switched or a store that was defying the main office. My wife and I were recently at a Wendys where the counter person made a point to tell us that the fries were trans-fat free. She did it because the new oil apparently changed the color of the fries.
The kicker is that we both noticed the change in color, a darker brown, but it only just happened. She told us the change had been made weeks or months ago. I suspect that they were using up their old oil or something.

Well maybe "lies" is a bit strong, more like they took creative liscense with the facts. They are a major fast food chain, doesn't that automatically mean they are a paragon of virtue?
The article did note that even the high 2.5 grams of trans fats per large fry was well below half of the trans fats in a similar serving from McD's and Burger King. And we all can agree that they are much tastier. So eat at Wendy's, just not daily.
