Jet Lag Kills?
There's a new study that subjected elderly mice to the equivalent of frequent jet lag, and just 47% of older mice whose clocks went forward 6 hours each week survived.
What does this mean for you? Well, if you work for an airline, or fly frequently, it could be significant. From the article:
"Whatever the precise mechanism, this raises important issues about the safety of counter-clockwise rotating shift work and the potential long-term health consequences for airline crews regularly crossing time zones."

.....A mouse lives 4 years max. An elderly one, what? Months? I'm not sure you can draw reliable lifespan data from stress-testing ancient mice!
.....I've been working switch shifts (two months on days, two months on nights) for 22 years, and I'm the healthiest person in my extended family. The key is actually sleeping when you're off work, and not going without for two months at a time!
