  1. My understanding was that the name changes were due to a desire to abandon the names given under colonial rule in favor of historic designations.

    Electoral, you are definitely correct – that is exactly why they change the names. It is not due to being afraid of perjoratives in the business world. (like the outsourcers care about that!)
