Upton Sinclair's Starbucks
Yeesh. Cockroaches scurrying over boxes. Dead mice drowned in the back alley. Scavenger faeces amongst the food stuffs. Little Polish boys found eaten alive by rats when they drink too much beer on the premises. What is this, The Jungle?
Nope, except for the skeletal polish boy with rat-gnawed bones, it's just the Starbucks on 2nd Avenue and 9th Street in NYC. This is about a month old, but god, some horrors are timeless. Hat tip to our sister, mother, secret love site, Gawker Proper.

You would think that since they charge about 4X too much for their coffee they could use some profits to buy some traps or call an exterminator. I live in the East Village and rarely see rats/mice out past dark, only near parks/grassy areas. Maybe I should be thanking Starbucks for attracting all of them to their stores.
Watch out! Starbucks is an Edelman client. (click on "Portfolio" on the left)

You kind of have to expect this from virtually any restaurant in NYC. That whole city is overrun with nasty creatures. It only stands to reason that they're going to be in higher concentrations around the city's 43 billion restaurants.
