Fox 6 Reporter Beaten on Camera By Identity Thief
And this is why we file all our reports from the safety of our apartment.

I don't know about anyone else, but that obviously proves the innocence of the accused identity thief. I mean, if I was falsely accused of something, I would physically attack a reporter ON CAMERA.
As a side note, what kind of puss uses his forearm to hit a guy rather than his fist? I hope this guy finds out how criminals really fight in the glorious Florida prison system.
I feel horrible for the reporter and I'm glad that he's ok, but as I'm watching I found it a little odd that he's reporting about people who are known to be violent, but seemingly for the sake of capturing a "good report" on camera he continues to film, even after she tells him to stop (I guess news camera crews don't have to comply with someone's explicit wishes not to be on camera).
I know FOX is home of reality tv, and having water thrown on someone isn't much of a deterrent, but from the bottle smack to the face, shouldn't he have stopped filming and gone somewhere else to complete it?
Chongo, years ago I was a bouncer at a sports bar and even when we had a guy restrained, on the ground, couldn't possibly move because 3 of us were on him, they would still come with guns at the ready.
I believe the idea is that as an officer you never truly know what a person has as far as weapons or what they will do until everything has stopped so they go way over to secure the situation first. They run in and start tackling people then the guy pulls a knife it's already too late.

All good cameramen know: when the shit hits the fan, never turn off the camera. You and I both know he would have been out of a job had he of turned it off.
On the other hand, I can imagine the reporter being like, "Dude, I thought you had my back?"
No offense, man, but this reporter needs some self-defense lessons. That was the worst job of fighting back an attacker I have ever seen. Granted he's a big dude and he cold-cocked you, but still...Hint: Playing dead doesn't work when someone is trying to smack the straw out of you. If you're going to antagonize people like you do--even for a really good reason--you need to learn to defend yourself.
"kalel666, the reporter can get more publicity for the story/himself (you choose) being injured rather than defending himself. We probably wouldn't be watching this right now if the reporter didn't get hurt."
Also, I would think the camera-person was smart enough to realize he wasn't just getting a story, but extremely vital evidence in the criminal charges soon to be brought against these two.
Urban Bohemian, what you are advocating is press censorship by each individual. That's not really done in free society. A free society has a free press, and that includes picture press. The public has as greater right to know than the criminal has a right to remain unknown. Where would we end up if everyone who doesn't like the public to know about his crimes could stop the news by beating up the reporter ? Or - and I do not want to put any ideas out here - but look into countries East of you where your kind of "journalism" is being practised. Do you really think that is better ?
I think the perp and his Gozilla got away with
a far too lenient treatment by the law.

its a good thing identity theft isn't a problem in this country
