HP Markets Girdling Camera to Rather Delusional Women
And with the proud forward march of technology comes one more reason not to trust that Match.com profile picture: the newest Hewlett-Packert cameras include an automatic "slimming" effect that can transform even the tubby, the amorphous, the morbidly obese into slender sylphs.
British slag girls love it. Meet Sally Cranham:
- Like many women in Britain, I am a size 16 and sometimes my holiday photos are not as flattering as I would like. But the slimming button certainly trimmed a bit off where it counts. If it had airbrushed me down to a size eight then no one would have believed it, but it did just enough to hide some of the evidence of a few too many good nights out.
Present in the HP Photosmart R727, the slimcam setting squeezes the picture in the middle, so the main object in focus is automatically girdled. It is, perhaps unsurprisingly, being marketed to vain, rather appalling women.

Does the healthcare industry actually think that this camera will cause more damage to young girls (or people with a higher disposition to eating disorders) than seeing Kate Moss in a photo shoot or any issue of People, Vogue or Seventeen? I did not hear the radio broadcast you're referring to, but what was the healthcare industry's reason for thinking this would do more damage than the media that these people see everyday?

Anyone who thinks that this is a good idea should be slaughtered and fed to the hungry. Overweight people should either accept the fact that they are overweight, or do something about it, like eating better and exercising. Preferably the latter.
There are already too many fatties in this world, and this dumb camera is saying that it's ok to be fat and unhealthy, but the camera will slim you down.
Keep eating, fatties. A slimming camera will never make you feel pretty on the inside. Hah!
I really like the way it skews her facial features as it slims her tilted head.
Someone with 10-year-old photoshop sk1llz could cut out the heads and set them upright on the bodies to make it more obvious, but the one on the right looks like she had a nasty fall as a baby. Maybe she could have used more padding. ;)
