Tripod is the internet’s vastest library of My Little Pony pages and rotating animated skull gifs. Oh, and Paypal and eBay phishing scam sites too.
With few control mechanisms in place to prevent phishers from creating a precise copy of an eBay log-in page on their servers, Tripod has become rife with doppelganger pages, looking to steal your account numbers and crack open your piggy bank.
Of course, policing content is hard. It’s not like Tripod could come up with some script that would automatically scan their pages for Tripod pages with names like “pay-pal-redirect.” Could they?
