• Wow, The Gap is still in business. Shopping their while their Really Big Sale is happening—with discounts up to 60% off—may or may not help them stick around longer.

• Wal-Mart has a crusty ol’ refurbished IBM Thinkpad T22 notebook for $300. It’s not a beast at just 900MHz, but Thinkpads are good laptops, on the whole, and it’d work okay for surfing the web and the like. One bummer? It comes with Windows NT instead of XP. Hello, Ubuntu!

    Its probably running XP, not NT. NT hasn’t been used since 1999, and I don’t recall it ever being “professional”, just NT 4.

    So it is probably Windows 2000 professional or Windows XP professional.

    Good price for a beater-notebook. Max memory is 512 MB.

    So to get a good deal on a phone I have to sign up for new service, which means switching carriers.
    Grr.

    (I’m ‘eligible for an upgrade’ in a month or two with Cingular, so I’m not ready to get a phone yet, I’d like to get hands-free with the next phone though and some of these deals look pretty good)
