Commerce Bank: Liar, Pants Ablaze

B.L. Ochman is crying foul over a sign up at every New York Commerce bank (pictured). She says it’s deceptive marketing and she’s got the story to prove it:

“I went to a Commerce branch in Flat Iron and gave the teller a deposit at 4 p.m. She said, “Just so you know, I’m working on tomorrow, so this won’t be credited today.” I protested: “But the sign says “Your money faster. Deposit ’til 6. Next Day Availability.” That’s true, she said, but not at every teller.

Jeez, all they need is a little sign the teller can put up that says, “Deposits made at this window before 6 PM will NOT be credited today. Please see teller at Window X.” Then, Commerce Bank wouldn’t be lying to its customers.

Hey, aren’t there laws about stuff like this?”

Liar, Liar, Pants on Fire!” [Whatsnextblog]

“Just so you know, I’m working on tomorrow, so this won’t be credited today.” Can somebody please tell me what that means? I don’t know “banker-speak.”

To me, that sentence says “I’m working ahead, so I can’t do today’s work,” and that doesn’t make any sense.

When I make a deposit to my credit union account, it’s immediately available. (The ATM introduces some upper limit for fraud protection)

    Once again, why use banks?
